Doṣas, body regions and digestion

English: When disturbed, the doṣas injure the body; when undisturbed, they sustain it. Although they pervade the whole body, Vāta predominates below the navel, Pitta between the navel and heart, and Kapha above the heart.

English: Vāta, Pitta and Kapha predominate respectively during the final, middle and initial portions of life, the day, the night and the digestion of food. Dominance of Vāta, Pitta or Kapha makes the digestive activity irregular, sharp or slow; balance of the doṣas produces balanced digestion.
