Koṣṭha and constitution

English: Predominance of Vāta, Pitta or Kapha produces, respectively, hard, soft or moderate bowel tendencies; a balanced state also produces moderate bowels. At conception, the doṣas present in the reproductive elements influence the constitution, just as a poisonous creature carries poison.
According to the classical classification, the three single-doṣa constitutions are considered lower, intermediate and higher respectively. A constitution with balanced doṣas is regarded as the best, while dual-doṣa constitutions are described unfavourably.
